Thyme came to us in utero with the purchase of her dam. She is the first purebred Lusitano born at our place, and the thousands of photos taken of her are a good representation of our excitement.

From the get go, Thyme has shown a mellow and confident personality.  She typically thinks through things very well when she is presented with new information, and soon becomes quite reliable in her responses.  As one of Gabby’s foals, she is very friendly.  As a foal she was happy to hang out with the humans for attention, even if her dam didn’t stay.  

Unfortunately during weaning Thyme suffered an injury to her left eye. With the expertise of an ophthalmologist we were optimistic at being able to save her eye and sight.  However, a deep rooted infection set in a couple of weeks post op and the eye was removed.  Thyme has adapted incredibly well, and if anything these events have shown just how good her mind is.  Working with her, she has maintained her mellow and confident personality while demonstrating a great degree of trust and a strong willingness to learn. She is still one of the friendliest horses in the herd, and she gives the best snuggles.

In the winter of 2025, we put a couple of rides on Thyme. She was remarkably easy going about pretty much everything, taking it all in stride. Her first real ride had another colt playing hard around the outside of the round pen. Thyme showed no concern and was very relaxed the whole time.

Thyme will remain with us at least until she is going well under saddle.  She will also be evaluated as a potential broodmare for DragonFly Lusitanos, but we would be open to inquiries for the right home for this lovely mare.
